Connecticut Power of Attorney Attorney

powers of attorney

Who do you trust to look after you in your times of need? A power of attorney is a legal document that gives those you trust most the power to make decisions for you if you are incapable of doing so yourself.

Our estate planning attorneys can help you create a power of attorney.

What does a Power of Attorney do?

Typically, a power of attorney gives the person you designate the legal right to act as if they are you in making certain decisions and taking actions on your behalf. Therefore, it is a document that you do not want to give without due consideration to the effects of transferring this specific legal authority.

Limits on a Power of Attorney

Although a power of attorney document confers certain legal powers, the document cannot satisfy all legal conditions. For example, if one becomes incapacitated, a court may establish a conservatorship over the person or estate. A conservatorship may be established either voluntarily or involuntarily to protect the interests of the person or estate it covers.
